PIONEER COTTAGES

In 1921 the "Group Settlement Scheme" attracted local and English migrants to the South West. Lured by pictures of lush English dairy farms, many came to try their luck at carving out a section of the dense bush with varying results.  They built basic 4 room dwellings hewn from hand-cut timber. 

My ceramic Pioneer Cottages depict the old farmhouses with ramshackle verandahs and rusty tin roofs with painterly details and artistic licence. I am able to work with your photos and ideas to create a more personalized group settlement cottage.
